The HP 2400 series printers are developing "popping sounds", "grinding noises" or "smudged print". In most cases, the problem is the fuser drive gear. Gear wear is typically caused by premature failure of the pressure roller bushings. Here is a kit to resolve this problem and eliminate the guess work of which parts to order. The gears required are not sold with the gear frame assembly; and that assembly is rarely the problem. The K24XX kit includes the gears needed to fix the drive assembly, a new fuser gear in case it has been damaged, and fuser pressure roller bushings. The Fuser part number is RM1-1535 (Old number RM1-1491)
